My son had been asking for a dog for years. The only problem, however, is that he is wheelchair bound, and we didn’t feel that it was fair to get him a puppy when we knew that he may not be able to enjoy it fully. We’ve discussed getting him a dog when he was older, but he wanted one as soon as possible, and at the age of five, waiting seem to take forever. I read on a parenting website about FurReal Friends Biscuit My Lovin Pup and thought that maybe it would be a good idea for our son.
We bought the dog and were really happy with how big he was. He was the perfect size for our son to reach and be able to interact with easily, even from his wheelchair. Biscuit even obeys his commands without him having to use any kind of controllers. When my son says “sit”, Biscuit sits. When he says “lay down”, Biscuit lays down. You would think that this would get boring, but Biscuit and James have become the best of friends! Any room that James goes into, he wants Biscuit brought to as well. We finally had to put our foot down and refuse to bring him into every room because it was becoming an all-day affair! Biscuit now lives in James’ bedroom which, conveniently, is where James chooses to play most of his playtime. These days, James is insistent that Biscuit goes everywhere, even the grocery store.
We’re now looking into getting other FurReal Friends and are very excited. They have so many options available. This is a great way for our son to be able to interact with animals without having to worry about their care or that they’ll accidentally harm him when he’s playing with them.
